European Junior Doctors support Greek doctors under pressure The General Assembly of the European Junior Doctors Association expresses its support and solidarity with our medical colleagues in Greece during this challenging period, where Greek Junior Doctors are unfortunately in the unpleasant position to defend their profesional capabilities and skills.

Recent events surrounding the junior healthcare professionals at one of the biggest University Hospitals in Athens have attracted significant media attention, casting a shadow over their dedication and professionalism. Greek Junior Doctors are under social pressure to prove that they can practice medicine and are competent enough to participate in decision-making and patient management. It's important to recognize that junior doctors are typically highly trained professionals who have completed rigorous educational programs and often undergo extensive supervision and assessment during their training. The spread of misinformation targeting junior doctors can have detrimental effects on their morale and well-being, as well as can have far reaching implications, eroding public trust in our healthcare systems.

EJD believes that scrutiny of medical practices and outcomes must be conducted with the utmost fairness and respect for the principles of medical science. This includes adhering to established protocols and ensuring that any review or inquiry is based on solid medical evidence and follows due process.

Our solidarity extends to all healthcare workers who perform their duties under undue pressures from the media and public pressure. It is essential that the discourse around such incidents remains balanced and that Junior Doctors are supported in continuing to provide care with professionalism and integrity.

It is vital to ensure that public perceptions are shaped by accurate information and a fair representation of the facts, to maintain the essential trust that underpins effective healthcare. In standing with our colleagues, we advocate for a healthcare environment that values thorough investigation over sensationalism, respects the challenges of medical practice, and promotes fairness and objectivity in all evaluations of professional conduct.
