Motion of support for striking doctors in Norway
The EJD supports doctors in Norway in taking the necessary industrial action, in order to achieve working hours that protect doctors from irresponsible rotations.
The European Junior Doctors‘ Permanent Working Group calls on the Norwegian government and the employer association Spekter, to provide Norwegian doctors with rotations that offer collective protection against irresponsible working hours. Norwegian doctors are not subject to Norway’s labour laws preventing excessive work, and this measure is therefore vital to their profession.
The suggested working time arrangements from Spekter are irresponsible - both for the workers and for patient safety.
